I have been working as a workplace coach for around 15 years, 6 years ago I qualified to Level 7 Executive Coaching and Mentoring, examined by the ILM (Institute of Learning Management).
Following my training as a counsellor, I discovered that my coaching was also able to (safely) delve deeper with my coachees and tackle many of the issues they had in the workplace from a therapeutic place. This equipped them with more understanding of themselves and an increased ability to predict their behaviours and challenges as well as harnessing and maximising their strengths.
Of course this makes complete sense. We are a whole person. Not a work person and a home person, just a person made up of experiences, thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
Therefore, when I work with my coachees, I always explain to them that I am a qualified counsellor and will be curious about some of the origins of barriers, drivers, triggers and emotions. Inside and outside of the workplace.
“What messages do we carry from our past which determine how we behave or react in the here and now?”
Many have found this insight useful (in all aspects of their life) but when working as a coach, we always have the aims and objectives in mind. In other words, we want to find the best ways of getting to your goals whilst recognising that some of the blocks might be psychological/emotional.
Below are some examples of where a work based goal can have its routes in an emotional experience, often from the past.
With all this in mind, I’d always encourage you to contact me and have an initial consultation.
Please make reference to both your coaching needs and your openness (or not) to explore this therapeutically through what can be quite close to solution-focussed counselling.
I can then make some recommendations and you can decide which feels the best route forward depending on your needs. It’s not a one size fits all option.
‘Pure’ coaching sessions are usually longer in length (1.5 hours) and less frequent (monthly) so a quote for this would be given on discussion and needs but, as a guide, pure coaching would be £75-£150 a session.
“Danni was just so easy to talk to and such a powerful kind human being. I couldn't thank her enough for all her help and unbiased support.”
“I actually can't really put into words how useful I found this. Danni opened my eyes to a few things that were going on that I don't think I really knew and then gave me some strategies to work through to help. Danni gave me some incredible, tangible strategies to put into practice and I just feel much more positive.”
“It uncovered thoughts and background I'd never considered before, Danni quickly identified how I thought and behaved and ways to start tackling this. I cannot recommend trying coaching more, even if you're just a bit unsure of how you feel or something is niggling at you, it's a great way to really open up to someone outside the business who isn't going to judge and hits the nail on the head from the get go.”
“I went into the coaching quite naively thinking that it would help me with a certain issue I had around effective communication, but what I realised during the 3 sessions is that it gave me a much greater perspective and awareness. If you are struggling with one thing, it quite possibly is linked to a number of things that are all dependent on each other and compounding. It really felt great to have a safe unbiased space to get clarity.”
